MARY
Owner Mary aims to accentuate the positive in every client she sees. She began her hairstyling career in 1983 graduating from Portsmouth School of Beauty, then going on to advanced training at Vidal Sassoon in London, England, The Horst Aveda Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and numerous advanced color training including Davines Color Theory and Creative Application in Providence, Rhode Island. Most recently, she studied styling techniques with Sally Rogerson, former Vidal Sasson Creative Director Santa Monica, California. Mary's impeccable reputation for modern haircuts incorporating a precise balance of studied technical skill and personal flair - accentuated with beautiful, flattering color.
Mary studied makeup artistry at the prestigious Makeup Designory in Los Angeles where she completed a month-long beauty makeup program for film, television, print and special events.

TRACEY
Tracey is the newest stylist at Starling Hair and Beauty. She has been working in Portsmouth for the last year and a half and is excited to take the next step in her career. Before diving into the world of cosmetology she attended Pratt Institute and graduated with a BFA in Communication Design and a minor in Sustainability. During the pandemic, she moved back home and decided to follow her dream of becoming a hairstylist and attended the Paul Michell School in Portsmouth.
She felt that her background in the arts created a seamless transition into doing hair. Her favorite things to do behind the chair are natural and lived-in styles created through different colors and cutting techniques but most importantly she enjoyed connecting with her clients. In her free time, she loves going to the beach (no matter the season), seeing live music, and spending time roaming art galleries and museums.
